Undertaking Kids’ Bedrooms

Decorating a child’s bedroom can be the most exciting part of any interior renovation. Here at LJ Interiors, we have direct experience working with clients who needed their unfurnished properties to appeal to families. We found the best way for this was to turn the spare or second bedroom in each property into a kid’s room. Nothing helps potential buyers more than seeing examples of how the space can be used to its advantage, and that’s where LJ Interiors excels.

Showing Personality

When staging your home the general rule is to follow a neutral colour scheme and make it as appealing to as many visitors as possible; featuring an individualistic interior design style or having too many bold colours can be a risky move when not everyone prefers those aesthetics. We’ve found that playing it safe often leads to better results.

However, kids’ bedrooms allow for more personality to come out. The very nature of a space made for children is imagined as colourful and exciting, so embracing that when choosing decor is important to consider. This is the one room in the house where you don’t need to shy away from being too bold.

Personalised Projects

With our recent jobs featuring childrens’ rooms, LJ Interiors has taken each as its own personalised project. Sara, our co-founder, took the helm with both these rooms in choosing the best furnishings to match her vision. For the above property she wanted to showcase animals such as giraffes and zebras as well as a bold yet gender neutral orange that wouldn’t exclude families depending on their child’s gender.

The temptation with a kid’s room can be to go over the top with creative liberties; while we encourage exploring options in these rooms, we would emphasize the importance of keep things consistent and free from clutter. Ideally, it should look like a child has just tidied away all their toys and not left everything scattered haphazardly without much thought.

Final Touches

Considering the placement of your soft furnishings is the final touch we live by. Our home staging and interior design team always makes sure we’re highlight the available space as best as we can; we want to show a home that looks lived-in while have the utmost care and attention put into its presentation.

We set aside time for every project to touch up anything that feels out of place or doesn’t look as we originally imagined, so we can make any empty shell feel more like a home – especially a kid’s room.
