Elevate your interior space this autumn with these 3 easy steps to make your home feel cosy, chic and seasonal.
As the leaves turn and the evenings drawn in, it’s the perfect time to bring that warm, inviting feeling indoors. Autumn is all about comfort and depth – think earthy tones, layered textures, and warm ambient lighting from your favourite candle that makes you want to curl up with a book and a hot cup of tea.
Whether you’re decorating a new space or simply refreshing your current interior, we’ve come up with 3 simple yet impactful ways to style your home for autumn and into the winter.
One of the easiest ways to transition your home into the new season is by introducing layered textures. Think chunky knits, woven throws, boucle armchairs, and textured cushions – even ceramics and natural wood accents can add depth such as this marble link accessory against the wooden table adds depth and seasonal warmth.
Layering different materials not only makes your space feel cosier, but also more visually striking. We suggest sticking to a warm, neutral palette with seasonal accents such as rich browns, reds and oranges to keep things grounded and sophisticated.

That brings us onto our second easy step; swap out summer brights for a palette of rich, earthy hues that reflect the changing season. We are loving the shades of rust, deep chocolate browns, amber, olives and those all-time classic deep neutrals (charcoal, taupe, espresso). These shades instantly bring that chic and sophisticated warmth and depth to any space.
If you’re stuck on where to incorporate these earthy tones, you can easily introduce them through soft furnishings – think cushions and throws or even ceramic vases and art prints. The beauty of adding it in your accessories and soft furnishings, is that these can then become rotational pieces you bring out every year for that added touch of sustainability and conscious shopping!

We all know lighting can completely transform the feel of a room – especially in the autumn when the days are getting shorter and our evenings become a time to switch off from the world outside. Switch out harsh overhead lighting for that soft, layered lighting that creates a warm and ambient glow. Our all-time favourites is a salt lamp for that ultra warm ambient glow that feels luxuriously cosy once 6pm hits.
Top tip: think table lamps, floor lamps, and even candles or fairy lights. Warm white or amber-toned bulbs will make your space feel super cosy and intimate. Homes and Gardens suggest creating a layered lighting scheme that feels warmer, softer and much more inviting. Think candles and soft glow lamps.

Styling your home for autumn doesn’t mean a complete overhaul – and if we are thinking about sustainability, buying new pieces for our interiors each year is not only wasteful, but costly too! Just a few thoughtful changes can make your space feel warm, welcoming, and seasonally inspired. By layering textures, embracing earthy tones, and setting the mood with lighting, you’ll create a home that feels like a true autumn retreat.
Once you have found the autumnal interior pieces you love, try and consider pieces of high quality that will last for years to come and that you can swap in and out on rotation!
