Trends. Whether that be in fashion, in culture, or interiors, some are here to stay, and others are here for a season and gone the next. When tasked with finding the most popular Interior Design trends in 2025 or those set to make an iconic comeback, we were quick to look at what others were writing about. The notorious, high-profile design magazines come January 1st are quick to inform us how we should and probably shouldn’t decorate our homes this year. Terracotta and Alabaster are in, colour drenching is out.
Above all, what is really apparent is people are moving towards a home that invokes a sense of character. A home that makes us feel something; some place we really want to come home to. “People want their homes to feel alive and personal, with pieces that have history, character and personality,” says AD100 interior designer Brigette Romanek.
We scoured the web in search of accredited, valued industry opinions from House Beautiful to Vogue and this is what we found. Here are the Interior Design Trends we are most certainly saying yes to in 2025:
This is an exciting yet slightly predictable trend we’ll be seeing a lot of in 2025. The return of brown furniture. Antiques and vintage furniture have been steadily on the rise for some time, with people opting for pieces that have more character and personality. It seems brown furniture is the perfect accompaniment to that. Think rich dark wood sideboards, brown boucle armchairs and possibly even brown drenched walls for an all-encompassing earthy vibe.

Remember that beautifully rich wine colour we’ve seen lately in all our favourite clothes stores? Yep! It’s even making its way into our homes, from our walls to our sofas; we’re having a red resurgence! In 2025, we’re going to be seeing a lot of this beautiful colour and the word on the street is to use it abundantly. Take this colour to your walls and onto your ceilings for a dark, moody interior that feels intimate. That reading nook in the corner of your home you’ve been thinking of redecorating? Use it there. Embodying a sensual yet understated opulence, wine red is the ultimate earth tone. Perfect if you’re looking to add warmth and depth to any space, this colour oozes that richness in our interiors we’re all craving.
When we think of Rich Colours, what comes to mind? Wine, dark brown, terracotta, burgundy. Essentially, any earth-toned colour is imbued with a sense of richness, and that’s what we’re all craving more of this year. We want our interiors to feel like a hug after a long day; somewhere we can cosy up on our deep chocolate sofa, enveloped in our terracotta colour drenched walls.
It comes as no surprise that the all-white interiors have become a thing of the past. Clinical, doctors office interiors are well and truly out! We’re swapping the clinical white, for the deep rich brown with furniture pieces that have plenty of character and personality! Antique pieces that we can love time and time again.
Surprisingly, we are partial to a wavy mirror and accompanying wavy décor, but Interior Design experts are on the other side of the fence with this one. We are saying goodbye to the playful, wonky designs. According to Interior Expert Chloe Barrow, ‘Wavy mirrors, abstract candles, and quirky prints had their moment, but in 2025, we’re moving toward designs inspired by nature,’ interior expert at Laura James. The move towards interiors inspired by nature comes as no surprise when we are colour drenching with rich colours and earthy tones.
Referring to our previous point on being partial to a wavy mirror, we are similarly partial to a cream bouclé armchair or sofa when designing for an interior scheme, and now we feel called out. The esteemed Elle Décor A-List designer Oliver Furth comments that we are not banishing the boucle trend for good, *sighs in relief*, but instead we will be opting for newer versions; bolder colours rather than cream, and thicker pile. In summary, when in doubt for your interior decorating this year, opt for those colour-drenched wine walls, accompanied by a dark brown bouclé armchair and leave the overly-wavy mirror on the Ikea shelf where it belongs in last years trends.
